Alysha Addetia (she/her) is a renowned Canadian flautist and ethnomusicologist, gaining prominence on the global music stage through her solo and ensemble performances. Most recently, she has recorded on the Toronto Tabla Ensemble's albums, To Begin With (2023), For the Love of Tabla (2022), and Unexpected Guests (2020) and performs as part of Compañía Maria Serrano Flamenco. Dividing her time between Toronto, Canada and London, UK, Alysha is expanding her practice through kora studies under Lucy Dúran and Kadialy Kouyaté, performing regularly on both kora and flute with global-inspired ensembles, and recording across a range of collaborative projects on both instruments. She has also studied and performed flamenco in Spain, strengthening her connection to the tradition through direct ethnographic engagement with its cultural roots. Alysha's influence extends beyond her performances as she actively contributes to the Canadian music landscape as a member of the JUNO Awards Music Advisory Committee, helping to recognize and promote artistic excellence across the country. Known for transcending cultural and geographical boundaries in her musical style, she has performed as the featured flautist in international ensembles in France, the UK, and Portugal. Beyond the stage, Alysha is a seasoned arts administrator, with impactful roles at organizations including as Yo-Yo Ma's Silkroad Ensemble at Harvard University, the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, Nova Dance, and Orchestra Toronto.
